The Top Five Things you CANNOT do with your Storage Unit at Keystone Self Storage

Are you currently thinking about getting a storage unit with Keystone Storage? Maybe you are already a customer of ours? In case you didn’t know there are many DO NOT’S in having a Storage Unit. We take pride in our property and it’s important to always keep other tenants and your rental agreement with us in mind. I'm here to tell you about what you can and cannot do with a storage unit at Keystone Self Storage in Springfield, MO.

  1. DO NOT try to Live in your Storage Unit. This one may seem obvious, but it never hurts to double down and remind everyone that you cannot, for any reason, live in your storage unit. I repeat, First and Foremost: You CAN NOT live in your storage unit. I get it, rent is at an all-time high and times are tough, but there are far too many risk factors that go with this issue that we cannot cover in this article. So, if you thought living in a storage until was an option, think again
  2. How to IMPROPERLY use the electrical outlets outside your unit. The outlets on the property are there, in part, for customer to use if needed. HOWEVER, customers cannot leave things plugged in after they leave the premises. So that means no charging things overnight, no fridges, deep freezers etc. Unless you are just storing them empty and not plugged in which is fine, of course. If we see something plugged in, and you are not there, we will unplug it and possibly take it back to the office if it is outside your unit.
  3. Do Not take up other tenant’s space. There are times when we all want to re-organize our storage unit and/or we need to take things  out in order to access certain items. Doing this is completely fine! Just, please be wary of the space you are occupying while moving things around. If it takes up the space of another tenant  (i.e. in front of their door or in such a way that they cannot park near it), that is NOT okay and needs to be fixed immediately.
  4. Making messes and leaving it for us to clean up is NOT ok. This should go without saying, but if you make a mess or if there is a lot of debris from your visit to your unit, PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF. Do not leave it for management to clean.
  5. Dumpster If you utilize your dumpster privileges, please be sure to, once again not leave a mess. Always be sure to break down all your boxes before tossing them in the dumpster. As a general rule if it will not fit in the dumpster, DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE FACILITY. Repeated offense can lead to termination of your rental contract. Also, please make sure the dumpster lids are closed before you leave the facility.
In conclusion, if you treat the facility with care and use common sense, you will be just fine! We at Keystone Storage appreciate your business and your ability to help us keep the facility a place we can be proud of! Please reach out today with any questions or if you are needing information on availability of a storage unit!
